Abstract: The National Competition Robotics League (Spanish competition) was created in 2008 having as main goal the promotion of science and engineering by organizing, among many other activities, a national championship in which robot designers from all around the country could participate. For some years, a team formed by students of engineering from “Gijon Polytechnic School of Engineering” – EPI GIJON (University of Oviedo) has taken part on those competitions. In this article the most important competition categories, which are sprinter-bot (“robot velocista”), tracker-bot (“robot rastreador”) and sumo-bot (“robot de sumo”), are briefly explained as well as the basic requirements and rules for participating on them.
