Abstract: The purpose of the project is the complete mechanical design of a new proposal of modified Gorlov helical turbine (GHT) based on a blade profile modification (initially NACA 0022). A modular design is proposed in order to simplify manufacturing costs, maintenance and mechanical assembly. A discussion on what manufacturing materials are best suited has beenalso  included in the work. Finally, a design example has been included in the work in order to evaluate the energy production of the proposed turbine in a real scenary with tidal river power capability.
